Mr Green and Company AB subsidiary fined in the Netherlands_1

Less than a month after applying for an iGaming license for its home nation of Sweden and online casino operator Mr Green and Company AB has announced that one of its subsidiaries has been fined by the gaming authority in the Netherlands.

Penalized for ‘IP blocking’ breach:

According to an official Wednesday press release, the Stockholm-listed firm stated that its Mr Green Limited subordinate has been ordered to pay a penalty of €312,500 ($363,639) for failing to comply with the regulator’s guidelines on ‘IP blocking.’

Mr Green and Company AB is responsible for the domains at BingoSlottet.dk, 11.lv, WinningRoom.com and BingoSjov.dk and last year posted turnover of approximately $129 million. It detailed that the regulator in the Netherlands has ‘previously issued guidelines’ for iGaming with the operator believing that it ‘has complied with these guidelines except for IP blocking.’

Operator intends to appeal:

Established some eleven years ago, Mr Green is also behind sites such as MrGreen.com, MamaMiaBingo.com, Vinnarum.com, Redbet.com and Bertil.com and declared that it now intends to appeal the penalty decision because ‘most gaming operators do not practice IP blocking in the Netherlands.’

Effect on profits ‘insignificant’:

The operator explained that it is present in some 13 jurisdictions and is licensed by authorities in countries including the United Kingdom, Malta, Denmark and Italy. It moreover proclaimed that the Dutch gaming market represented approximately 6% of its second-quarter revenues at just over $30 million with the fine due to have an ‘insignificant’ impact on its profitability.
